With a versatile musical delivery and a mesmerizing presence, soprano Laura Nicorescu is a true rising star of the international operatic realm. Don’t miss her two recitals bursting with energy and exuberance, which will take place at St Martin-in-the-Fields and St James’s Piccadilly in October. The Romanian soprano is accompanied by pianist Cordelia Höfer-Teutsch. The programme features works by Alban Berg and Christoph Willibald Gluck, as well as Romanian lieder by Valentin Teodorian, Carmen-Petra-Basacopol and Mihail Jora.

Laura Nicorescu attended the Universty of Music, Bucharest and Mozarteum University, Salzburg. After graduation, she became a member of the Opera Studio of the Bavarian State Opera. Her international career includes roles like Konstanze („Die Entführung aus dem Serail“, Despina ("Cosi van tutte")/Vlaamse Opera, Belgium), Pamina (“Die  Zauberflöte“/Hof, Germany) and Susanna (“Le Nozze di Figaro“/Theater Krefeld- Mönchengladbach, Germany and Bucharest National Opera). In 2016 Laura successfully gave her French debut as Zerlina in “Don Giovanni” at Opera de Normadie.

Cordelia Höfer-Teutsch started her piano lessons with Anna Stadler and completed her studies in piano at the conservatories in Salzburg and Munich with highest honors. In Salzburg she also studied conducting and chamber music. Her extensive concert experience involving solo appearances with renowned orchestras took her to countries in Europe, the USA and Japan. She has appeared in numerous festivals: “Mostly Mozart”, New York, “Kontrapunkte”, Salzbur, the Kuhmo Festival, Finland, the Summer Festival, Portogruaro  and the Eurasia Music Festival, Seoul.
