The British-Romanian Liberal Union and our Media Partner - the 'Roman in UK' On-line publication - invite you to a public debate on the topic of:

‘Central / East European and Roma Migration & Integration in Western Europe’ and the resulting challenges to local community cohesion – prompted by the relatively recent lifting of work restrictions for Romanian and Bulgarian citizens, and by perceived anti-social behaviour by Roma residents.

Social integration, housing, education, cultural differences are subjects that all need to be addressed. The conference is structured around three panel discussions, followed by Q&A sessions throughout the day, with a lunch break. It is aimed at all individuals who feel they have a stake in this subject.

The panelists are consultants and policy makers, with specialisms in the needs of migrants and refugee students, equality and community cohesion, education (EAL), housing; NGO representatives, British and East European politicians, community activists.

This conference is the first of three events throughout 2014, to mark the passing of 25 years since 1989. The cycle continues with a conference by Prof. Roger Scruton on 5 November on The Fall of the Berlin Wall, chaired by The Rt. Hon. Sir Malcolm Rifkind, KCMG QC MP ; and on 11 December, with a conference on the Romanian Revolution, with eye witnesses from Bucharest and Timisoara, including Cornel Mihalache , international award winning director, and the screening of two of his documentaries on the December 1989 events in Romania.

RSVP by 17 June 2014.
