Carte de bucate romaneasca - strangere de fonduri

COOKERY BOOK WITH A DIFFERENCE TO RAISE FUNDS FOR ROMANIAN HOSPICE.

A Suffolk group have produced a Cookery book with a difference to raise funds for the Romanian Hospice movement.

“A Taste of Transylvania” focuses on the flavours and the aromas of traditional Transylvanian cookery and wine. The group collected recipes from families and friends in Transylvania and Maureen translated them with the aid of a group of young Romanian volunteers working at the hospice “Casa Sperantii” in Brasov, capital city of Transylvania.

The book not only covers the traditional cookery of this special region, but details the flavours and aromas which make the region special, at a time when western fast food is beginning to have a negative impact on the traditional cookery of the region.

The group which consists of the Rev. Tony Redman, Rev. Nancy Baird and Maureen and David Carnell met 5 years ago after Tony put an advert in the St Edmundsbury Diocesan Newsletter “The East Anglican” looking for other people interested in learning Romanian. The group who responded found they all had contacts in the Transylvanian region of Romania, three of them in the same city Brasov. Through Tony they learned of the Casa Sperantei hospice for terminally ill adults and children.

The book is illustrated with photographs and sketches made by Tony during his visits to the region.

Proceeds from the book will go to support the hospice at Brasov and the hospice movement in Romania.

The book is due to be published on December 1st 2006., price £7.99
